About The Position

The Development Manager is a critical technical leader within the Product Operating Model (POM), accountable for building high-performing engineering teams and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions. This role serves as the primary connector between Product Managers, Architects, and Developers to align technical execution with business outcomes. As a Development Manager, your focus is on enabling teams to succeed by removing blockers and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. You guide the technical foundation for critical products—such as search platforms or marketing systems—influencing platform architecture and long-term strategy while ensuring systems are reliable and performant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Significant experience leading software development teams and driving the development of high-scale systems.
  • Deep knowledge of API design, microservices architecture, and modern frontend/backend frameworks.
  • Proficiency in modern engineering stacks, often requiring expertise in Java, Node.js, React, or Python, alongside distributed systems and cloud infrastructure (e.g., GCP).
  • Oracle PL/SQL and E-Business Suite (EBS) R12/R12.2 expertise.
  • An experienced engineering manager with a track record of hiring and developing talent in fast-paced, Agile environments.
  • A "crafty" solver who can balance technical excellence with delivery pressure and find win-win solutions.
  • Skilled at building alignment across cross-functional stakeholders and translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • An individual with an illustrated history of living core organizational values: Customer, Innovation, Team, Accountability, and Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, mentor, and coach engineers to foster career growth and technical excellence.
  • Oversee timelines and commitments, facilitate Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning), and proactively identify and remove blockers.
  • Partner with Product Managers to balance technical feasibility with business priorities and translate strategies into actionable technical roadmaps.
  • Enforce accountability for software quality, ensuring solutions meet security, performance, and scalability standards through CI/CD and code reviews.
  • Drive the adoption of emerging technologies, such as Generative AI or Machine Learning, to enhance product capabilities and user experiences.

Benefits

  • Health & wellness coverage including medical, dental, vision, and mental health resources
  • Generous time off including PTO, holidays, a company-wide Priceline Pause reset week, and paid volunteer days
  • Work/life support including the ability to work up to 4 weeks per year from anywhere, parental leave, dependent care and family support resources, Summer Fridays, and office perks like stocked kitchens and catered meals (varies by location)
  • Financial security programs such as retirement plans with company contributions, life and disability coverage, and tax-advantaged accounts
  • Signature travel perks including employee-only discounts on hotels and flights, VIP deals, and Big Deal Bucks credits
  • Additional perks & discounts like travel and partner discounts, tuition support, legal support, and pet benefits
  • A people-first culture with Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), social events, recognition programs, and service awards that help you connect, grow, and celebrate together
