Development Expert (Multiple Positions Available)
About The Position
Ariba, Inc. is hiring multiple Development Experts in Palo Alto, California, to define and evolve solution architecture for cloud-based procurement products in alignment with business goals, platform strategy, and customer needs. The role translates business and product requirements into technical designs, scalable architectures, and engineering models, and helps ensure solutions are technically feasible, compliant, secure, performant, and ready for release. The Development Expert develops, tests, deploys, delivers, and maintains applications that meet business objectives and user needs. The role also supports architecture reuse and shared components, guides design and implementation plans, mentors developers and peers, monitors architecture risks, estimates technical effort, shapes product backlogs, and promotes agile development, architecture governance, and quality-by-design. Responsibilities include automating software delivery and testing, reviewing code, and troubleshooting and enhancing applications, including root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, plus seven years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation; alternatively, a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in one of these fields plus five years of experience.
- Five years of experience designing and developing enterprise-grade software applications.
- Five years of experience with system architecture and scalable solutions.
- Five years of experience leading complex technical projects or modules.
- Five years of experience defining deliverables, timelines, and milestones.
- Five years of experience managing technical risks and escalations.
- Five years of experience working on high-complexity and high-volume systems.
- Five years of experience delivering innovative technical solutions.
- Five years of experience in test planning and automation, including unit, regression, integration, and UAT testing.
- Three years of experience with SAP technologies, including SAP BTP, SAP HANA, ABAP, RAP/CAP, or Fiori.
- Three years of experience with cloud, APIs, and integration.
- Three years of experience with REST/OData APIs and microservices.
- Three years of experience with cloud platforms including SAP BTP, AWS, and Azure.
- Three years of experience with system integration patterns.
- Three years of experience with DevOps and Kyma.
- Three years of experience with reporting using SAP BDC or similar.
Responsibilities
- Translate business and product requirements into technical designs, scalable architectures, and engineering models.
- Identify opportunities for architecture reuse, cross-team synergies, and shared component strategies.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and engineering teams to ensure technical feasibility, compliance, and release readiness.
- Review and guide design documents and implementation plans for conformance with architectural guidelines, security, and performance standards.
- Mentor and coach junior developers and peers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
- Monitor architecture risks, estimate technical effort for business cases, and shape the product backlog.
- Champion agile development practices, architecture governance, and quality-by-design principles.
- Develop, test, deploy, deliver, and maintain applications that meet business objectives and user needs.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and efficient code and conduct code reviews.
- Optimize and automate software delivery, including automated testing at multiple levels.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance applications to improve performance and security and resolve customer issues, including root-cause analysis and preventive actions.
