About The Position

The University Relations and Development Division at San Diego State University is seeking a Development Coordinator to provide essential administrative support, project management, and event coordination for our development teams. This role involves assisting development teams with daily tasks and long-term objectives, scheduling and arranging meetings, creating agendas, and providing key meeting materials. The coordinator will also conduct basic prospect research, support data analysis using Ellucian or similar databases, generate communication materials like emails, letters, cards, and invoices using mail merge functions, collaborate with internal teams, and handle event logistics including scheduling, vendor coordination, and event preparation.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with Ellucian (or similar financial and biographical database).
  • Experience in performing basic prospect research and data analysis.
  • Experience in coordinating meetings and special events.
  • Experience with marketing and communications.
  • Experience in generating emails, letters, cards, invoices, etc., using mail merge functions.
  • Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible administrative support, marketing/or communications experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education, the public sector, or a fundraising/development environment is preferred.
  • Experience in processing reimbursements for travel, mileage, reimbursements, payables, and procurement is preferred.
