Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in development, communications, nonprofit, or education sectors.
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing and/or fundraising (portfolio management preferred).
  • Exceptional written communication skills with ability to produce clear, compelling, audience-specific content.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience managing social media, websites, or digital communications platforms.
  • Familiarity with donor databases/CRM systems preferred.
  • Deep alignment with Boston Prep’s mission and commitment to educational equity and anti-racist practice.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow Boston Prep’s foundation and grant portfolio, including prospect research, proposal development, reporting, and relationship stewardship.
  • Lead grant writing pipeline, ensuring high-quality, compelling submissions aligned to organizational priorities and deadlines.
  • Support execution of the school’s annual fundraising strategy, including donor cultivation, stewardship, and campaign support.
  • Coordinate logistics and execution for key fundraising events (e.g., The Toast gala), including materials, communications, and donor engagement.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and reporting through CRM systems; support gift tracking, acknowledgments, and data integrity.
  • Support expansion and relaunch of the Young Professionals Network to build long-term donor pipelines.
  • Own and manage Boston Prep’s external communications strategy and calendar, ensuring consistent, mission-aligned messaging across platforms.
  • Draft and publish newsletters, annual reports, donor updates, and press materials that highlight student impact and organizational priorities.
  • Manage and grow Boston Prep’s social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
  • Oversee updates to the school’s website, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with branding standards.
  • Design and produce marketing collateral (flyers, brochures, presentations) to support recruitment, fundraising, and community engagement.
  • Ensure all communications reflect Boston Prep’s mission: preparing students for college success and lifelong ethical growth.
  • Partner closely with the Senior Advisor for External Relations to execute strategic priorities across development and communications.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to source stories, data, and outcomes that strengthen external messaging and fundraising efforts.
  • Contribute to development of annual reports and board-facing materials.
  • Support cultivation of external partnerships, media opportunities, and community visibility.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities, including but not limited to, supervising lunch periods or arrival/dismissals, and covering classes in the absence of other staff members.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to the school's mission by undertaking additional responsibilities and contributing to school-wide initiatives as needed.
  • Engage in continuous learning and seek regular feedback.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
  • Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and state regulations, including maintaining accurate records and preparing required reports.
