About The Position

Family Outreach is seeking a creative, organized, and mission-driven Development & Communications Specialist to support fundraising, marketing, communications, and community engagement efforts across the organization. The Development & Communications Specialist is a key contributor to advancing the organization’s mission through strategic marketing, donor engagement, fundraising initiatives, and public outreach. This role is responsible for maintaining consistent organizational branding, supporting community partnerships, coordinating events and campaigns, and enhancing communication with donors, families, staff, and the public. This position reports to the Business Manager and works closely with the Executive Director, program managers, and supervisors across all office locations. The role requires flexibility, creativity, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a collaborative nonprofit environment.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (2-year degree) in Marketing, Communications, Business, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Marketing, communications, fundraising, nonprofit, or administrative experience
  • Experience with social media management and digital communications
  • Experience coordinating events, campaigns, or community outreach efforts
  • Familiarity with donor databases, CRM systems, Salesforce, or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and campaign management
  • Understanding of branding, public relations, and community engagement strategies
  • Proficiency in Canva and Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to create professional marketing materials and branded content
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience managing databases, online forms, and digital platforms
  • Self-motivated with the ability to adapt to changing organizational needs and technologies

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage marketing materials, newsletters, social media content, and promotional campaigns
  • Support fundraising efforts, donor stewardship, and community engagement initiatives
  • Coordinate fundraising events, outreach activities, and public relations efforts
  • Maintain consistent branding and communication across platforms
  • Assist with website content, online forms, and digital communication tools
  • Manage donor and organizational databases and reporting
  • Collaborate with leadership and program teams on organizational initiatives
  • Research and implement new fundraising, communication, and outreach strategies
