About The Position

The Developer Operations Accounting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate processing and application of developer and builder payments across multiple developing communities. This position serves as the operational liaison between Developer Operations, Client Accounting, Settlements, Community Managers, Title Companies, and Builders to ensure financial transactions are researched, documented, and applied correctly. This role is highly detail-oriented and requires strong analytical skills to reconcile account ledgers, interpret closing documentation, research payment discrepancies, and prevent posting errors that could result in homeowner delinquency or inaccurate financial reporting. As Developer Operations continues to evolve, this position will play a key role in developing and improving operational processes.

  • Experience with C3, Vantaca, TOPS, or similar property management software.
  • Understanding of accounts receivable processes.
  • Experience reviewing real estate closing documentation or title paperwork.
  • Knowledge of homeowner association accounting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process developer and builder payments for multiple communities.
  • Analyze builder remittance information, settlement statements, deeds, and closing documents to determine proper payment allocation.
  • Complete payment allocation forms for Client Settlements to ensure checks are accurately applied across multiple lots and homeowner accounts.
  • Research discrepancies between builder payments, closing documentation, and homeowner ledgers.
  • Reconcile account ledgers to identify missing payments, posting errors, overpayments, credits, or delinquency concerns.
  • Pull and analyze reports related to builder closings, delinquency, payment activity, and community development.
  • Communicate with builders, title companies, developers, and internal departments to obtain missing documentation or clarify payment instructions.
  • Partner with Client Accounting and Settlements to resolve payment exceptions and account corrections.
  • Assist with identifying trends or recurring issues impacting builder payment processing and recommend process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of payment research, correspondence, and resolutions.
  • Support onboarding of new developer communities by assisting with financial setup, builder payment tracking, and operational workflows.
  • Assist in developing and documenting standard operating procedures as the Developer Operations program continues to expand.
  • Perform additional operational and financial support duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with Developer Operations leadership to improve payment workflows and reduce manual processing errors.
  • Provide support to Community Managers regarding builder account balances, payment research, and financial inquiries.
  • Assist with special projects, reporting initiatives, and process improvement efforts.
  • Cross-train with other departments to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and implementation of new operational procedures.
