About The Position

As a full-time Detention Security Officer conducting entrance inspections in Columbia, South Carolina, you will serve and safeguard clients at a government corrections location. This is an unarmed driving post that requires a valid driver’s license. You will help maintain a secure environment through patrols, access monitoring, incident response, and professional customer service, working as part of a team and following site-specific procedures and security policies. The position pays $17.00 per hour. The listed schedule is Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Applicants must meet the stated age and education requirements and are subject to background investigation and drug screening as permitted by law. Licensing requirements may apply under state or local laws.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license required for this driving position.
At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel at a government correctional facility while following site-specific procedures and security policies.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including building perimeters, access points, and parking areas.
Monitor access to designated areas, verify credentials as directed, and report unauthorized entry attempts or unusual conditions.
Respond calmly to incidents, disturbances, alarms, and critical situations in accordance with established emergency response procedures.
Prepare clear and accurate reports of patrols, incidents, observations, and security-related activities.
