About The Position

Under general supervision, performs specialized administrative and financial duties in support of Detention Division operations. Exercises independent judgment in processing financial transactions, maintaining sensitive inmate financial information, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring the accuracy and accountability of funds and records. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One year of administrative, clerical, customer service, financial recordkeeping, cash handling, or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of administrative practices, financial recordkeeping, cash handling, and basic accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of standard office software, databases, and office equipment.
  • Knowledge of customer service practices and professional communication.
  • Skill in processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Skill in reconciling accounts, deposits, and other financial records and identifying discrepancies.
  • Skill in researching and resolving errors while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Skill in exercising independent judgment and recognizing when supervisor review is necessary.
  • Skill in handling sensitive and confidential inmate, personal, and financial information.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining correspondence, reports, records, and files.
  • Skill in organizing work, managing competing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Skill in effectively communicating with staff, inmates, family members, vendors, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Processes and maintains inmate account transactions, deposits, checks, and related financial records.
  • Maintains accountability for funds and ensures financial transactions are accurate and properly documented.
  • Reconciles cash drawers, deposits, accounts, and financial records; researches and resolves discrepancies.
  • Communicates with federal law enforcement agencies, Laramie County Treasurer’s Office, and other governmental agencies regarding inmate accounts, financial transactions, records, and related matters.
  • Exercises independent judgment when reviewing transactions, identifying errors, and determining when additional review or supervisor involvement is necessary.
  • Maintains accurate files, databases, reports, correspondence, and other records.
  • Collects and compiles data; reviews records and financial documents for accuracy.
  • Provides customer service assistance to staff, inmates, family members, vendors, and other parties.
  • Maintains sensitive and confidential inmate, personal, and financial information.
  • Performs general administrative duties, including processing mail, scanning records, preparing documents and maintaining files.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
