Requirements

At least 18 years old
U.S. Citizen
High school graduate or have a GED
A South Carolina licensed driver, or the ability to obtain one
Honorably discharged from the military (if applicable)
No pending cases or criminal felony convictions (misdemeanors may require expungement)
No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days
No student loans in default status
Must pass background checks
Must successfully complete the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy’s Basic Detention course of instruction within the first year of employment.

Nice To Haves

Qualified applicants with a college degree may receive enhanced compensation.
10+ years’ detention/corrections experience and/or military/additional education for Master Detention Deputy positions.
