As a Deputy Sheriff with the CCSO, you'll become part of an elite team committed to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for all Charleston County residents. This unique position combines focused school-based security with the broader responsibilities of a respected law enforcement professional. While your primary focus will be ensuring a safe learning environment within assigned schools – protecting students, employees, and visitors – you'll also be equipped to respond to critical incidents and support the community during severe weather events.

Requirements

At least 21 years old and a U.S. Citizen
A high school graduate or have a GED
A minimum of two (2) years or more of certified law enforcement experience in South Carolina
A valid South Carolina licensed driver; or the ability to obtain a South Carolina driver’s license
Honorably discharged from the military (if applicable)
Have no pending cases or criminal felony convictions (misdemeanors may require expungement)
No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days; some drugs are automatic disqualifiers
No student loans in default status
No criminal convictions
