About The Position

This role is crucial in creating safer communities and empowering youth to grow in resilience. As a Detention Counselor, you will work alongside the juvenile justice system, including courts, police, and service providers, to maintain a safe, secure environment for youth in a 24/7/365 operation, helping adolescents in temporary care navigate challenges and find a path forward.

Requirements

• A minimum of 60 college credits required.
• Ability to pass a company-paid physical and obtain required clearances.
• Age 21 or Above
• Current Driver's License

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience in juvenile justice, congregate care, or youth-focused roles.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the juvenile justice system, including courts, police, and service providers, to maintain a safe, secure environment for youth.
• Assist adolescents in temporary care navigate challenges and find a path forward.
• Safely perform physical interventions and restraints with individuals who may weigh 200+ pounds, using approved techniques.
• Stand, walk, and respond quickly throughout the shift.
• Successfully complete and maintain certification in Adelphoi’s crisis intervention / restraint training and pass any required physical abilities assessment.
