About The Position
Teph Seal Auto Appearance is hiring flat-rate detailers for its detail shop in Latham, New York. The role includes Detail Specialist 1, for candidates with some experience, and Detail Specialist 2, for candidates with two or more years of experience. Detailers maintain store facilities and help ensure customer satisfaction through quality service and products, courteous interactions, and timely responses to customer inquiries and complaints. The work includes driving, detailing, and cleaning vehicles. Detailers wash vehicle exteriors; may wax and buff vehicles; vacuum interiors; clean upholstery and surfaces; dry surfaces with air compressors and cloths; apply preservation chemicals; and may use dyes, paints, and waxes to protect leather or fabric. They may also clean grease from engines or engine compartments and perform additional duties assigned by management in response to operational needs. Compensation is flat rate. This physically demanding job involves frequent movement and repeated entry into and exit from vehicles. Work may be outdoors in varying weather conditions, and employees move numerous vehicles during the workday. The role requires attention to detail and quality inspection of one's own work and that of team members, a sense of urgency in serving customers, and compliance with uniform and grooming standards. Employment is contingent on successful drug and background screening.
Requirements
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
- Desire to treat each customer's personal vehicle with care and respect.
- Willingness to arrive on time and stay on task during the shift.
- Ability to drive both automatic and manual-transmission vehicles.
- Availability to work Saturday or Sunday and holidays when needed to meet production needs.
- Detail Specialist 1: some experience.
- Detail Specialist 2: two or more years of experience.
- Ability to distinguish small imperfections and inspect work quality.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including frequent bending, lifting, reaching, squatting, and getting into and out of vehicles.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Clarity of vision and hearing.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Responsibilities
- Maintain store facilities to support high-quality service.

- Drive, detail, and clean vehicles.

- Wax and buff vehicles using cloths and buffing machines, as needed.

- Dry surfaces using air compressors and cloths, and apply preservation chemicals to protect against spots and stains.
- Use dyes, paints, and waxes to protect vehicle leather or fabric, as required.
- Clean grease from engines or engine compartments, as required.
- Carry out additional duties assigned by management based on operational needs.
- Inspect the quality of personal work and that of other team members.
- Follow uniform and grooming standards and work with urgency to respect customers' time.
