About The Position

Floor & Decor Designers provide consultative design services from start to finish, building customer relationships and brand loyalty. They meet with customers to understand project needs, explain project requirements, and develop creative design concepts that reflect customers’ personal style, lifestyle, and budget. Designers advise on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects, and sell complete, functional, aesthetically appealing solutions.

The role involves managing several customer projects through all phases, communicating consistently with customers and colleagues, and partnering with store employees and leadership to support projects from inquiry through installation. Designers use company design and communication tools, support company initiatives, and stay engaged with current and emerging design trends.

Requirements

• At least one year of interior design experience or prior retail or sales experience.
• Proficiency in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivation and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in Design.
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring.

Responsibilities

• Greet store customers helpfully and support walk-in design needs.
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers.
• Develop clientele through networking, referrals, and leads generated within the store.
• Advise homeowners, interior designers, and builders on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
• Manage multiple simultaneous customer projects through all phases, maintaining accuracy, timeliness, follow-up, and clear communication.
• Use company communication tools and email consistently and proficiently.
• Collaborate and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales and other goals.
• Support company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
• Engage with current and emerging design trends in the local market.
• Understand and use design applications, including Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
