About The Position

Floor & Decor Designers provide a consultative design service from start to finish, building lasting customer relationships and brand loyalty. They meet with customers to understand project needs, explain project requirements, and develop creative design concepts that reflect each customer’s personal style, lifestyle, and budget. Designers advise on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects, and design and sell complete, functional, aesthetically appealing solutions.

Designers manage multiple customer projects through all phases, coordinating with store leadership and employees from inquiry to installation. The role also involves scheduling appointments, developing a clientele through networking and referrals, following up and communicating with customers, supporting company initiatives, and staying engaged with design trends. Limited travel by car may be required. The work environment frequently includes a warehouse and moving vehicles, with noise typically moderate to noisy.

Requirements

• At least one year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience.
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in Design.
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring.

Responsibilities

• Greet store customers helpfully and support walk-in design needs.
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers.
• Develop clientele through networking, referrals, and leads generated within the store.
• Advise homeowners, interior designers, and builders on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
• Manage multiple simultaneous customer projects through all phases, maintaining accuracy, timeliness, follow-up, and clear communication.
• Use company communication tools and email consistently and proficiently.
• Collaborate and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales and other goals.
• Support company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
• Engage with current and emerging design trends in the market.
• Understand and use design applications, including Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
