Design Engineer Sr.

Arcosa Careers•Tulsa, OK

About The Position

The Senior Design Engineer develops new products and enhances existing products to address customer needs, expand market opportunities, and strengthen Ameron’s competitive position. The role evaluates concepts for structural performance, functionality, manufacturability, and cost, and produces engineering calculations, models, drawings, renderings, and technical documentation to support concept evaluation and product implementation. The engineer plans and supports prototyping and testing, evaluates results, and refines designs. The position also establishes design methods and technical guidance that help new products and options transition into routine engineering and production workflows. It provides engineering support to the shop, resolves technical questions related to manufacturing, and incorporates production feedback into designs while maintaining required performance. The role maintains and improves engineering analysis methods and software to accommodate applicable design codes, new products, materials, and requirements. It translates engineering requirements into documented calculation methods and software functionality, advances existing analysis tools, and supports their development into integrated engineering applications. The engineer considers the complete design workflow, from customer requirements through analysis and design outputs, and builds consistency, automation, and traceability into tools to reduce repetitive data entry and support reliable use of project information. Calculations and software outputs are verified and validated against established methods, independent checks, and test results where appropriate. Assumptions, limitations, revisions, and validation results are documented to support consistent and reliable use.
