Design Engineer Intern | Civil Engineer
About The Position
Acorn Engineering, Inc., a Maine-based, 100% employee-owned civil engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture firm, is hiring a seasonal summer Design Engineer Intern for its Portland office. The intern will assist with CAD site design, stormwater inspections, regulatory permitting, construction administration, and Planning Board submissions. Current projects include community solar farm permitting, floodplain and watershed restoration, municipal parks, urban infill developments, and affordable housing throughout Maine. The role offers opportunities to contribute to varied projects, collaborate, volunteer, grow professionally, and build relationships. This is an in-person position in the Portland office five days per week; it is not hybrid.
Requirements
- Currently a junior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering, with a concentration in water resources.
- Strong technical and engineering design skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD.
- Understanding of local, Maine, and federal permitting regulations and applications.
- Understanding of stormwater treatment design.
- Valid driver's license required.
