About The Position
The Civil Design Engineer is an entry-level engineering role that supports the design team in developing engineering solutions. The position focuses on building a foundational understanding of engineering practices, assisting with design-document preparation, and supporting senior engineers throughout design and development. The role includes creating and modifying technical drawings, researching materials and regulations, coordinating with internal teams and external consultants, helping prepare project documentation, participating in field visits as needed, and supporting quality control.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 0–1 year of experience in engineering design or internship experience.
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks in an internship or academic setting.
Nice To Haves
- Engineer In Training (EIT) certification.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing engineering designs and prepare technical drawings, calculations, and models under senior engineers’ supervision.
- Use CAD and other design software to create and modify engineering drawings and plans in accordance with project specifications and company standards.
- Research materials, codes, and regulations to support designs and ensure compliance with applicable laws and industry standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to gather technical input and integrate engineering systems into designs.
- Participate in project meetings, take notes, and provide updates on assigned tasks.
- Assist in preparing design reports, calculations, and specifications for review by senior engineers.
- Conduct field visits or site inspections to gather data or help assess existing conditions as needed.
- Support quality control by reviewing design deliverables for accuracy and compliance with firm standards.
