Department Manager- Tools and Hardware - Vermillion, SD
About The Position
The Department Manager is responsible for merchandising and sales within the assigned Tools department and providing the highest level of customer service. The position reports to the Store Manager and requires an irregular schedule that includes days, nights, and alternating weekends. Extensive knowledge and understanding of tools, particularly Dewalt and Milwaukee, is preferred. The hourly pay range is $17.00–$20.00, depending on experience. The role includes coordinating merchandise presentation and distribution, maintaining adequate inventory, assisting customers, communicating department product needs to retail buyers, helping train and direct new team members, and ensuring safe merchandise handling by employees and customers. The work takes place in a retail store environment and involves frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, long periods of standing, and frequent bending and twisting.

Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate merchandising of assigned products.
- Set priorities for distributing new merchandise within the assigned department.
- Ensure adequate inventory throughout the assigned department.
- Assist customers with purchases.
- Work with retail buyers to communicate department product needs and other product information.
- Assist with training and directing new department team members.
- Ensure employees and customers practice safety when handling merchandise.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
