About The Position

Assess, plan, and deliver direct dental care and associated services to dental patients using PCHC-established dental hygiene protocols and procedures. The role includes assessing patients’ dental conditions and needs, providing routine dental hygiene treatment, and developing individualized care plans. Patient education, discharge planning, and patient/family teaching are performed under the supervision of a qualified dentist.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Dental Hygiene.
• Active Local Anesthesia Licensure.
• Current licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the state of Rhode Island.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a community ambulatory dental clinic environment emphasizing Public Health is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ dental conditions and needs using screening procedures, including medical history review, dental charting, and periodontal charting; take vital signs as required.
• Deliver direct patient care using established dental hygienist procedures.
• Perform routine treatment procedures, including cleaning, polishing, x-rays, application of sealants and fluorides, and related procedures.
• Develop and implement individualized dental care plans for patients.
• Perform patient education, discharge planning, and patient/family teaching under the supervision of a qualified dentist.
