About The Position
The Delivery Driver operates store equipment, stocks ingredients and supplies, prepares products, takes and processes telephone orders, completes inventory and related paperwork, and cleans the equipment and facility. The role delivers products by car to customers’ doors and may distribute flyers and door hangers. On-the-job orientation and training are provided. The job involves working in a restaurant environment with exposure to varying weather, temperature changes, food odors, cornmeal dust, hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Work is performed mostly standing, with walking, driving, carrying, lifting, reaching, bending, and occasional climbing or crouching. Deliveries may involve navigating stairs and carrying products to customer locations.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record meeting company standards.
- Access to an insured vehicle that can be used for deliveries.
- Ability to understand and give correct written instructions.
- Ability to communicate verbally with customers and coworkers to process orders by phone and in person.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly, with a calculator if needed, and make correct monetary change.
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
- Motor coordination to make rapid, accurate, and precise movements.
- Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.
- Navigational skills to read a map and locate addresses within the designated delivery area.
- Ability to navigate adverse terrain, including multi-story buildings, private homes, and other delivery sites, while carrying products.
- Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, work under stress, meet quality-control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.
- Ability to lift and handle deliveries weighing up to 50 pounds and perform the physical activities described for the role.
Responsibilities
- Operate all equipment.
- Stock ingredients from the delivery area to storage, work areas, and the walk-in cooler.
- Prepare products.
- Receive and process telephone orders.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and the facility approximately daily.
- Deliver products by car to customers’ doors.
- Deliver flyers and door hangers.
- Unload bulk product deliveries using a hand truck and place cases on shelves.
- Navigate delivery areas, including stairs and other terrain, while carrying products.
