Delivery Driver / Furniture Assembler
About The Position
CORT Furniture Rental is hiring a full-time, non-CDL Delivery Driver / Furniture Assembler in Memphis, Tennessee. Working collaboratively with the Operations team, the driver starts the day at the warehouse to review routes and safety topics, then drives a 26-foot box truck with a lift gate to deliver and install furniture at customers’ homes or offices. The role involves unloading and assembling furniture, interacting with customers, and helping in the warehouse as needed, including loading and unloading furniture. The position pays $19.50–$21.50 per hour depending on experience, with weekly pay and paid training. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; some flexibility and occasional overtime may be required or available. Applicants must have a valid state driver’s license and safe driving record, at least 12 months of professional experience driving a 24-foot box truck or larger commercial vehicle, and the ability and willingness to move furniture in varied conditions, including stairs and all weather. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and pass drug screening and motor vehicle record checks. Drivers must be able to read and speak English sufficiently to communicate with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and complete reports and records. The position is subject to a background check for convictions directly related to its duties and responsibilities. CORT participates in E-Verify, and applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer; visa sponsorship is not available. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Requirements
- Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.
- At least 12 months of professional experience driving a 24-foot box truck or larger commercial vehicle.
- Physically able and willing to move furniture indoors and outdoors, up or down stairs, and in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift more than 100 pounds with a partner.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Must pass drug screening and motor vehicle record checks as a condition of employment.
- Must read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
