About The Position

The Delivery Assistant supports delivery and warehouse activities by loading and unloading trucks and helping deliver merchandise to customers’ homes or businesses. The role also includes preparing merchandise for delivery, assisting with setup, maintaining store and warehouse areas, and providing customer service related to merchandise pickups and deliveries. The position may also assist other store departments and perform other related duties as required. It involves physical work, including climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and handling materials weighing up to 100 pounds regularly and heavier objects occasionally. Some work may involve exposure to dirt, dust, temperature extremes, electric currents, or toxic agents and chemicals.

Requirements

Jr. High School Diploma.
Six months of experience in a distribution or warehouse environment, shipping/receiving, or delivering merchandise; alternatively, an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to assemble, process, and tabulate data according to a prescribed plan.
Ability to provide guidance, assistance, or interpretation to others regarding procedures and standards.
Ability to operate equipment, machinery, tools, or materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments.
Ability to use a wide variety of reference or descriptive information.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic, with possible need to calculate decimals and use fractions.
Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and exercise some independent judgment in semi-routine standardized work.
Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in repetitive or short-cycle work carried out according to set procedures.
Ability to exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials weighing up to 100 pounds regularly and heavier objects occasionally.
Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals as required by tasks.
Ability to communicate orally as required by tasks.
Ability to perform duties that may involve exposure to dirt, dust, temperature extremes, electric currents, or toxic agents or chemicals.

Responsibilities

Place stock on shelves or racks and set up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
Perform general maintenance and groundskeeping for the warehouse and/or store.
Unload merchandise from warehouse and freight trucks.
Assist delivery truck drivers by directing trucks into unloading areas to support safe vehicle operations.
Record deliveries and submit delivery records to appropriate management.
Load trucks in preparation for daily deliveries and assist with delivery, unloading, and setup.
Obtain customer signatures on receipts for pickups or deliveries.
Assist with repossessions of goods.
Assemble merchandise as required.
Perform customer service inspections and repairs as needed.
Maintain the cleanliness of the store or warehouse interior and grounds and uphold the company’s Delivery Standards.
Uphold and promote the company’s H.O.M.E. values.
Assist in other store departments as required.
Perform other related duties as required.
