About The Position

The Delivery Assistant supports delivery and warehouse activities by loading and unloading trucks and helping deliver merchandise to customers’ homes or businesses. The role also includes stocking and displaying merchandise, maintaining store and warehouse spaces, documenting deliveries, assisting with merchandise setup and assembly, and supporting customer service inspections and repairs. The position may also assist other store departments and perform other related duties as required. Work involves heavy physical effort, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items weighing up to 100 pounds and occasionally handling heavier objects. Some tasks may involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The role may involve exposure to dirt, dust, temperature extremes, electric currents, or toxic agents or chemicals.

Requirements

Jr. High School Diploma; six months of experience in a distribution or warehouse environment, shipping/receiving, or merchandise delivery; or a combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to assemble, process, and tabulate data according to a prescribed plan.
Ability to provide guidance, assistance, or interpretation regarding the application of procedures and standards.
Ability to operate equipment, machinery, tools, or materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments.
Ability to use a wide variety of reference or descriptive data and information.
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; decimal calculations and use of fractions may be required.
Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and exercise some independent judgment in semi-routine standardized work.
Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in situations involving repetitive or short-cycle operations performed according to set procedures.
Ability to exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 100 pounds and occasionally heavier objects.
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals, and to communicate orally.

Responsibilities

Place stock on shelves or racks and set up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
Perform general maintenance and groundskeeping for the warehouse and/or store.
Unload merchandise from warehouse and freight trucks.
Assist delivery truck drivers by directing trucks into unloading areas to support safe vehicle operations.
Record deliveries and submit delivery records to appropriate management.
Load trucks for daily deliveries and assist with delivery, unloading, and setup.
Obtain customer signatures on receipts for pickups or deliveries.
Assist with repossessions of goods.
Assemble merchandise as required.
Perform customer service inspections and repairs as needed.
Maintain cleanliness of the store or warehouse interior and grounds and uphold the company’s Delivery Standards.
Uphold and promote the company’s H.O.M.E. values.
Assist in other store departments as required.
Perform other related duties as required.
