About The Position

The Deli employee serves AC&T customers promptly and courteously while preparing food and helping create a pleasant shopping and dining experience. The role works in the Kitchen department and reports to the Kitchen Manager. It is based at the Halfway Travel Center in Hagerstown, Maryland, and pays $16.00 per hour. The position is non-exempt. Duties include assisting deli-counter customers, preparing and packaging food, maintaining a clean and ready work area, and following company and regulatory food-safety and sanitation procedures. The employee may also perform other assigned or required tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to lift items weighing 25 to 50 pounds.
Ability to operate equipment such as meat and cheese slicers, scales, and cash registers.
Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
Ability to understand and follow company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and sanitation.
Courteous and efficient approach to handling customer requests, questions, and complaints.

Nice To Haves

Deli-counter or food-preparation experience may be required.
One year of deli or kitchen experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide responsive, exceptional service to deli-counter customers by answering questions, making recommendations, providing samples, and responding to requests.
Recommend, slice, weigh, package, and price meats and cheeses.
Prepare sandwiches, subs, salads, and other cold items for resale.
Prepare special orders and party trays.
Clean surfaces, equipment, and floors; remove trash; and confirm tools are in working order so work areas are ready to serve customers.
Follow company and regulatory food-safety and sanitation procedures.
Cooperate with others to ensure customer satisfaction.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned or required.
