About The Position

Gourmet Gang, the deli division of Trolley Hospitality Companies, is hiring a dependable, team-oriented Deli Associate for its Downtown Norfolk location. The role may involve salad and sandwich preparation, cashiering and customer service, handling phone orders, or expediting orders, depending on the assigned station. Team members also assist with opening and closing duties and support other stations as needed. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with no weekends. Full-time and part-time options are available. Base pay is $14–$15 per hour, with tip-pool averages of $16–$18 per hour.

Gourmet Gang operates seven gourmet lunch bistros across the greater Richmond and Hampton Roads regions. The company emphasizes creative, handcrafted menus, quality ingredients, a supportive workplace, and delivering happiness to customers, the community, and the team. Additional opportunities may be available to train and become certified for catering event work as a server, bartender, or setup/take-down crew member.

Requirements

• Customer service experience, preferably in a food service setting.
• Food preparation experience.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Reliable transportation.

• Experience running a cash register.

Responsibilities

• Prepare salad and sandwich menu items while maintaining food quality and freshness.
• Greet customers, take orders, operate the register, and process payments.
• Answer phone calls, take phone orders, and assist customers.
• Check orders for accuracy, package items, and ensure timely service.
• Assist with opening and closing duties, including washing dishes, mopping, taking out trash, and restocking restroom supplies.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Provide excellent customer service and support other stations as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Complete other assigned tasks.
