About The Position

The Deli Manager in Training (MIT) is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of the deli in accordance with company policies, ensuring the deli contributes positively to company profitability. The Deli MIT supports the Deli Manager by training, guiding, and motivating deli associates to achieve optimal performance. The MIT also assists with daily operations and procedures as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly skilled in technology, with the ability to learn, implement, and adapt to an ever-evolving technology landscape
  • Demonstrates hustle in a fast-paced environment by working with urgency, adapting quickly to changing priorities, and taking initiative to complete responsibilities independently
  • Proficiency with computers and common software applications
  • Possess or obtain Serve-Safe Certification
  • Reliable transportation and consistent availability during scheduled shifts

  • Experience with shrink analysis preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prompt and courteous service to all customers and ensure deli employees uphold the same standard
  • Project a positive image of the company at all times
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding employee performance and personnel matters. Notify the Food Service Manager and Store Manager of personnel issues or policy violations impacting deli operations
  • Ensure compliance with company dress code standards
  • Treat coworkers, managers, and support staff with respect and foster teamwork
  • Operate the deli within company guidelines to meet sales and profit objectives
  • Follow all applicable city, county, and state health regulations
  • Ensure employees receive proper training on safety and security procedures
  • Maintain required documentation, including: Daily temperature charts, Cook time sheets, Inventory records, Order guides, Employee schedules
  • Perform refrigeration equipment checks at least once per shift
  • Clean and maintain deli equipment
  • Prepare high-margin products as directed
  • Keep floors, shelving, and counters clean
  • Report maintenance issues promptly
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels based on business trends
  • Ensure accurate pricing and implement plus-selling techniques
  • Identify opportunities to enhance deli appearance and profitability
  • Verify vendor compliance with company agreements
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships
  • Manage marketing materials and report signage or pricing needs
  • Collaborate effectively with team members
  • Stay up to date with company communications
  • Report any threats to employees, operations, inventory, or company assets
  • Provide initial and ongoing training to deli associates in: Safety and security, Equipment operation, Inventory control
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
