Zingerman's Deli Catering Kitchen Staff
About The Position
Zingerman’s Deli is hiring Catering Kitchen Staff to prepare and deliver catering meals for celebrations and gatherings in Ann Arbor and throughout Southeast Michigan. Staff work as part of the catering production team in a fast-paced, friendly environment, dividing their work between food preparation and deliveries. The role may also involve setting up food at event locations and working in a variety of environments, including small spaces. The position pays $19–$21 per hour, including tips. Weekly hours vary with business volume, generally 32 to 40 hours, with occasional overtime. Shifts are primarily in the morning and usually begin between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Availability on some Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays is required. Full-time and part-time hourly positions are available.
Requirements
- Basic kitchen and knife skills.
- Valid driver’s license and a good-to-perfect driving record with no license restrictions.
- Availability on some Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.
- Ability to work with urgency and prioritize tasks.
- Comfort with bending, lifting, and standing for an eight-hour kitchen shift.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds up and down stairs.
Nice To Haves
- Intermediate to advanced kitchen preparation and knife skills.
- Food preparation experience or an equivalent combination of culinary education and experience.
- Enjoyment of providing great service to guests.
- Experience making deliveries to homes or office buildings.
- Experience driving a van or larger delivery truck.
- Above-average organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fruits, vegetables, meats, and other food items using equipment such as slicers and knives.
- Cook catering menu items using ovens, grills, and stovetops.
- Maintain proper sanitation at workstations.
- Arrange and present food attractively for guests.
- Set up food for guests at event locations when needed.
- Load, unload, and deliver products and materials for events.
- Follow Zingerman’s Guide to Driving.
- Provide great service to guests and staff.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Assist with produce ordering as needed.
- Assist with other duties during events as needed.
