About The Position

Under general supervision, the Deli Associate performs a variety of duties related to the deli department and helps fulfill customer orders at the deli counter with professional, efficient service. The role may also provide assistance to the meat and seafood departments as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to write legibly and read with comprehension at a level applicable to the position.
• Ability to handle average-weight objects up to 25 pounds, or to stand and/or walk for more than four hours per day.
• Follow basic safety precautions in a work environment involving some hazards or physical risks.

Responsibilities

• Operate a deli and cheese slicer.
• Prepare, package, and price products as directed.
• Assist customers with orders placed at the deli counter.
• Stock and rotate merchandise as directed.
• Maintain current knowledge of products.
• Provide assistance to the meat and seafood departments as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Follow Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Sample products at the direction of the department manager.
• Demonstrate proper phone etiquette when taking orders or messages.
