About The Position

Under general supervision, the Deli Associate performs a variety of duties related to the deli department and helps fulfill customer orders at the deli counter with professional and efficient service. The role also includes keeping merchandise stocked and rotated, maintaining product knowledge, supporting the meat and seafood departments as needed, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to write legibly and read with comprehension at a level applicable to the position.
• Ability to handle average-weight objects up to 25 pounds, or to stand and/or walk for more than four hours per day.
• Follow basic safety precautions in a work environment with some exposure to hazards or physical risks.

Responsibilities

• Operate a deli or cheese slicer.
• Prepare, package, and price products as directed.
• Assist customers with orders placed at the deli counter.
• Stock and rotate merchandise as directed.
• Maintain current knowledge of products.
• Provide assistance to the meat and seafood departments as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Follow Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area free of hazards.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Sample products at the direction of the department manager.
• Demonstrate proper phone etiquette when taking orders or messages.
