The Deland Fellowship in Health Care and Society at Brigham and Women's Hospital prepares professionals to be leaders in healthcare institutions. This one-year fellowship focuses on developing skills fundamental to leading an academic and community-based medical center. The program is based at Brigham and Women's Hospital, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, and Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and is enhanced by membership in the Mass General Brigham System. Fellows engage in project-based learning guided by senior management, bridging medicine and administrative management. Fellows pursuing administrative roles gain understanding of clinical aspects, while clinician fellows explore management, operations, and finance. Mentorship from senior executives provides opportunities for participation in senior leadership meetings, special projects, and hands-on exposure to clinical work, including physician and nursing rounds, observing clinical procedures, and quality rounds. The fellowship is designed for individuals with previous full-time work experience in related fields.
