About The Position

Intel Foundry is increasing its investment in defect metrology technology through its Win It Inline initiative, using advanced real-time monitoring to improve yield learning cycles. The Defect Metrology Technician supports high-tech manufacturing by optimizing metrology tools and providing defect measurements and analysis that help improve production yield. The role reports to the Yield/Defect Metrology department and collaborates with engineering teams on process improvements, manufacturing monitoring, and research and optimization efforts. The position is based at Ocotillo Technology Fabrication (Fab52/42/32/12) and requires an on-site presence. It is a compressed work week role, with shifts across schedules 4, 5, 6, and 7 available as needed by functional area. Compressed work week shifts tend to be 12 hours, from 6 to 6. The posting identifies Shift 5 as the listed shift. The technician will perform defect analysis and measurements, maintain and troubleshoot metrology equipment, document findings, support lot dispositions and tests, and help maintain quality and improve manufacturing processes.

Requirements

Meet at least one of the following minimum education or experience pathways: High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of related hands-on experience or military technical experience; High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years in a related equipment maintenance role; High School Diploma or equivalent and a 2+ year technical/trade certification or 2+ years of technical experience; or an Associate degree in a STEM-related field and 1+ years of related equipment maintenance experience.
Have 2+ years of experience with user-level computer operation.
Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills and comfort presenting issues and solutions.
Work well in a diverse team environment and multitask.
Work with minimal supervision and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
Produce results in a timely manner.
Demonstrate analytical problem-solving and testing skills.
Be available for the compressed work week schedule and shifts as assigned; shifts tend to be 12 hours from 6 to 6.

Nice To Haves

Military experience.
Proficiency using advanced-node metrology and defect analysis tools aligned with semiconductor manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed defect analysis, including critical dimension, overlay, film thickness, stress, bow, and roughness measurements using advanced metrology tools.
Identify and classify defects using established criteria and standards.
Collect, organize, and analyze defect density, size distribution, and other relevant metrics.
Maintain and calibrate metrology equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs with maintenance teams or field service engineers.
Collaborate with Yield and Defect Metrology Engineering teams to implement process improvements based on defect analysis findings.
Document and communicate defect analysis results, metrology measurements, and findings to peers, technicians, and managers.
Monitor and audit manufacturing processes and provide guidance and training to other technicians.
Execute lot dispositions, experimental testing, and engineering tests to support process optimization and research efforts.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and adhere to established standards.
Perform equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, support defect reduction, and undertake other duties supporting Fab objectives.
Use technical manuals, specifications, drawings, diagrams, schematics, tools, test equipment, problem-solving techniques, and written and verbal instructions.
