Ocotillo Technology Fabrication Defect Metrology Equipment Engineer

Intel Corporation•Chandler, AZ
•$89,010 - $170,630•Onsite

About The Position

Intel is seeking a technically strong engineer to sustain, ramp, and transfer technology nodes in Arizona while driving improvements in safety, quality, yield, reliability, cost, process stability and capability, and productivity. Intel Foundry is investing in inline defect metrology and real-time monitoring to accelerate yield learning by collecting data throughout manufacturing. The Defect Metrology Equipment Engineer will optimize and maintain metrology systems used in manufacturing, working with equipment development, operations, automation, and manufacturing teams to improve yield systems and product integrity. The role uses analysis of process, defect, electrical, experimental, and manufacturing data to inform process changes and yield improvements, supports product introductions and design of experiments, and develops data-analysis tools and AI/ML applications for leading-edge logic manufacturing.

Requirements

  • At least 3 months of experience with yield and defect metrology equipment, such as KLA, AMAT, ASML HMI, TEL, Keysight, Advantest, or Hitachi.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Statistics/Data Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field, and at least 2 years of relevant experience; or a master's degree in one of these fields or a related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree and at least 2 years of applications experience with defect metrology tools.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication and processing techniques, including lithography, etch, CMP, thin films, or plating; statistical process control; design of experiments; and statistical data analysis.
  • Programming or data analysis experience with JMP/JSL, Python, R, or SQL.
  • Experience in laser optics, scanning electron microscopy, digital signal processing, or image processing.
  • Experience in technical documentation, training, and project management.
  • At least 3 years of new technology startup experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant process or yield engineering experience.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and in metrology.
  • Exceptional customer orientation.
  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries, including with process engineering, integration, and yield teams.
  • Good communication skills and a high tolerance for ambiguous and changing situations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform statistical analysis and develop visualizations to create process development roadmaps.
  • Develop methods and systems to analyze diverse big-data sources, supporting yield modeling and process roadmap definition.
  • Develop and maintain systems for faster interpretation of fab process, defect, and electrical data to drive yield-enhancing process changes.
  • Convert experimental and manufacturing data into yield-improvement actions.
  • Analyze process and product design to ensure manufacturability.
  • Execute new product introductions and participate in design of experiments.
  • Develop tools and algorithms to analyze high-volume data and identify yield limiters.
  • Harden equipment systems to meet operational needs for leading-edge logic nodes.
  • Develop AI/ML applications to improve patterning solutions and design efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure data integrity and implement custom algorithms.
