About The Position

The Debit Card Director is the P&L owner for the Debit/ATM card business, responsible for achieving annual budget targets. This role involves leading a team of product and forecasting managers, identifying growth opportunities, and collaborating with various internal departments to deliver on business objectives. The Director will develop product roadmaps, business cases, and coordinate cross-functional teams for new product initiatives. They will also review and optimize existing product features, manage performance reporting, conduct market research, and ensure staff are trained in risk management principles. Additionally, this role partners with Marketing on communication strategies, communicates vision to stakeholders, influences senior leaders, and provides product expertise for customer issue resolution. The Director is accountable for risk management, compliance, and audit performance, maintaining knowledge of regulatory changes, and formulating product strategies based on market trends and competitor analysis. This role drives the strategic product planning process and advises the Consumer Finance Leadership team. The Card Forecasting responsibilities include partnering with Finance to manage the card financial forecast and budget, developing and managing financial models, identifying P&L opportunities and risks, and articulating forecast variances. This role also manages key financial reports for senior management, completes regulatory and association reporting, monitors and forecasts card vendor expenses, and oversees the preparation of competitive insights, financial invoice management, and general ledger reconciliation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of Debit/ATM card product or related oversight and experience
  • 5+ years of financial forecasting and modeling experience
  • Experience with and understanding of First Data platforms.
  • Experience working with other 3rd party debit card partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in product development, forecasting, business case development, strategic planning, project management and tactical implementation
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, adept at influencing stakeholders through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills; can quickly form strong relationships through a shared vision and mutual trust
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze situations and risks, determine paths of action, and make recommendations to remediate issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with level of comfort presenting at senior levels.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Understand the concept of materiality (i.e., knows when information is relevant), and possesses solid understanding of major revenue sources for the credit card and debit card business
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, build and develop a team of highly functional product and forecasting managers
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements as they pertain to aforementioned segment areas.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate and lead team of highly dynamic product and card forecasting managers; coach and mentor; manage a business; hire top talent at various levels, may be responsible for terminations, salary adjustments and/or disciplinary actions; establishes/communicates group strategy.
  • Identify and prioritize new opportunities to drive profitable growth and improve customer experience
  • Create and maintain a high level of partnership with leaders in Marketing, IT, CSC, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Branch, Operations, Customer Advocacy, Finance, Analytics to deliver on stated business objectives.
  • Develop product roadmaps, business cases and other artifacts necessary to support new product initiatives
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional team to drive strategy, planning, design, development and execution of new product initiatives
  • Review and propose modifications to existing Debit/ATM Card product features and benefits to optimize profitability and meet customer needs
  • Develop and manage reporting to monitor portfolio performance and track success of key initiatives
  • Conduct market research and monitor changes in the industry to help support new initiatives to enhance the product line and remain competitive in the industry
  • Leverage data to uncover opportunities, evaluate product performance, inform decision-making and measure success
  • Ensures staff is properly trained, provided with appropriate resources and motivated to adhere to risk management principles.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop product communication strategy to customers and to improve customer engagement.
  • Communicate vision to key stakeholders and influence senior leaders across the organization.
  • Provide product expertise to resolve customer issues related to Debit/ATM card product
  • Accountable for risk management, compliance and audit performance related to the Debit/ATM product
  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures and complies with legal and regulatory
  • Maintains current knowledge of risk and regulatory-related Debit/ATM card changes that may impact assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Identifies trends in the market, forecasts patterns, researches the actions of competitors, and eventually formulates cohesive product strategies based on this research.
  • Drives the strategic product planning process and acts as a trusted advisor to the Consumer Finance Leadership team and relevant stakeholders during strategy formulation, development, and execution.
  • Partner with Finance to manage the card financial forecast and develop the annual card financial budget
  • Develop and manage credit and debit card financial models, identify P&L opportunities & risks and articulate key drivers behind forecast variances.
  • Manage key financial reports used by senior management to monitor the performance of the card business.
  • Responsible for completing and validating required regulatory, association and control reporting for card products.
  • Monitor, track and forecast card vendor expenses and identify opportunities for expense reductions.
  • Manage key business presentations used to review product performance with ELT leaders.
  • Oversee forecasting analyst to prepare competitive insights, financial invoice management and general ledger reconciliation
