Deal Desk Lead

Netic•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Netic is hiring its first Deal Desk Lead to build the company’s deal desk function from the ground up. The role will establish approval matrices, pricing policies, and deal review processes in partnership with sales leadership, Finance, Legal, and the founders. It is a commercial analyst position focused on modeling deal economics, identifying patterns in discounting and sales outcomes, and developing pricing policies that support timely approvals and sound commercial decisions. The Deal Desk Lead will review and structure non-standard deals, analyze economics at both deal and portfolio levels, and use performance data to recommend changes to pricing, packaging, and promotions. The role will also help ensure contract terms align with Finance’s revenue recognition needs, establish quoting and CPQ standards, automate approval workflows as volume grows, and coach account executives on complex deals involving large multi-location operators and private-equity-backed platforms. Year-one outcomes include publishing an approval matrix and pricing playbook, providing deal reviews in hours rather than days, reporting discounting and margins monthly by segment and representative, shipping at least one analysis-driven pricing or packaging change, and routing and tracking approvals through systems rather than Slack threads.

  • Strong quantitative skills and advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills; willingness to build models directly.
  • Working knowledge of SaaS contract terms and basic revenue recognition.
  • Track record of building a process or policy from scratch and securing adoption by sales leaders.
  • Sound judgment to decline a deal while proposing a better alternative, and credibility to maintain that position with executives.
  • Degree in economics, finance, engineering, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Salesforce CPQ, DealHub, or similar quoting tools.
  • Experience pricing usage-based or AI products.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants to automate business processes or build internal tools.
  • SQL skills.

  • Model deal and portfolio economics, including discount, gross margin, payback, and expected expansion.
  • Analyze discounting, win rates, and deal velocity by segment, deal size, and sales representative; recommend changes to list price, packaging, and promotions with Product and leadership.
  • Partner with Finance and Legal on contract terms and revenue recognition to align sales agreements with Finance’s booking requirements.
  • Set quote and CPQ standards with Sales Ops and the Sales Systems engineer, and automate approvals as deal volume grows.
  • Coach account executives on deal structure for large multi-location operators and private-equity-backed platforms.
  • Publish an approval matrix and pricing playbook, with deal reviews completed in hours rather than days.
  • Report discounting and margin monthly by segment and sales representative.
