About The Position
The Child Care Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role involves adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The cook creates home-style, nutritious meals within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements. The cook also prepares meals and snacks for children and staff and distributes food to classrooms. The role includes following the Director’s daily menu and applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations; maintaining food and supply inventory and ordering items when needed; and assisting in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater as needed.
Requirements
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
- Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.
Nice To Haves
- Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.
