About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. The role requires adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The Food Specialist prepares home-style, nutritious meals within the school’s menu and budget and in accordance with state and federal requirements. The position also includes preparing food for staff, distributing food to classrooms, maintaining food and supply inventory, ordering supplies as needed, and assisting in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher/Floater when needed.

• Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.

• Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility.

Responsibilities

• Create home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and applicable state and federal requirements.
• Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff.
• Distribute food to classrooms.
• Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, complying with USDA, licensing, and health department regulations.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
• Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.
• Adapt to menu changes and meet meal and snack schedules.
