About The Position
The Child Care Cook, also called a Food Specialist, is responsible for preparing food for the school’s enrolled children. The role requires adapting to menu changes and meeting meal and snack schedules. The Food Specialist creates home-style, nutritious meal plans within the school’s menu and budget and applicable state and federal requirements; prepares meals and snacks for children and staff; and distributes food to classrooms. The role also includes maintaining food and supply inventory, ordering supplies as needed, following the Director’s daily menu and applicable USDA, licensing, and health department regulations, and assisting in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher or Floater when needed.
Requirements
- Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare facility is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
- Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.
