About The Position

Sweeping Corporation of America is hiring a full-time Day Street Sweeper in Longwood, Florida, for a first-shift role. The position pays $20–$21 per hour and is eligible for a first pay increase after six months. Travel is minimal (1–10%). The Street Sweeper takes ownership of assigned routes, drives a street sweeper, and operates specialized equipment to help keep streets clean and well-maintained, supporting public safety and environmental quality. The role requires safe equipment operation, completion of pre-trip and post-trip inspections, route review, and timely completion of assigned work to quality standards. The employee handles materials and disposal procedures, completes required documentation, communicates professionally with teammates, supervisors, and clients, and promptly reports equipment issues, incidents, injuries, and safety concerns. Consistent, dependable attendance and adaptability to changing conditions are expected. Work is performed outdoors, with regular exposure to weather, the elements, and traffic. The role involves frequent sitting and walking or standing, occasional bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, pushing and pulling, limited stair climbing and crawling, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead. The employee continuously uses reading, screens, mental focus, and hand-eye coordination; operates specialized equipment and hand and foot controls; and must use appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of DOT driving experience.
CDL-B license and DOT Medical Card.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Maintain an acceptable driving record and pass a motor vehicle record check, background check, and drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Ability to follow safety procedures, conduct inspections, operate equipment responsibly, and comply with traffic, site, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan routes, complete work efficiently and accurately, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain dependable attendance.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates, represent the company professionally, and promptly report equipment issues, incidents, or safety concerns.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead, and meet the stated physical and sensory demands.
Use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required.

Responsibilities

Perform required pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and ensure safety features are operational.
Review assigned routes before departure, seek clarification when needed, and complete jobs within allotted time while meeting quality expectations.
Operate street-sweeping equipment safely and efficiently, following traffic laws, company procedures, and site-specific protocols, including in challenging weather or site conditions.
Handle materials safely and follow appropriate procedures for material types and disposal sites.
Report equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, and injuries within 30 minutes or as soon as safely possible; escalate work issues and safety concerns to management.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients as needed.
Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
Respond to changes and challenges and identify and solve issues in a timely manner.
Consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, and remain prepared throughout assigned shifts.
