About The Position

Sweeping Corporation of America (SCA) is hiring a full-time Day Street Sweeper in Dallas, Texas. SCA provides street sweeping, jet-vac, and environmental services to municipalities, counties, and government agencies. The company’s mission is to provide essential services that support cleaner, safer, and more sustainable communities. The Street Sweeper takes ownership of assigned routes, drives a street sweeper, and operates specialized equipment to keep streets clean and maintained. The role includes inspecting equipment, reviewing routes, safely handling materials, documenting work, and promptly communicating equipment problems, incidents, or safety concerns. Employees are expected to maintain dependable attendance and represent the company professionally. This position is outdoors and involves regular exposure to weather and traffic, as well as occasional exposure to loud noise, dust and debris, and jarring conditions. The role requires operating a mechanical broom sweeper and using hand and foot controls, wearing appropriate PPE, and meeting the physical and sensory demands described in the posting. The position is based in Dallas, TX, with minimal travel (1–10%). First shift is available. Compensation is $20–$21 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of DOT driving experience.
CDL-B license.
DOT Medical Card.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must maintain an acceptable driving record and pass a motor vehicle record check, background check, and drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Ability to follow safety procedures, conduct inspections, operate equipment responsibly, and comply with traffic, site, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan routes, complete work efficiently and accurately, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain dependable attendance.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates, represent the company professionally, and promptly report equipment issues, incidents, or safety concerns.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead.
Ability to use specialized equipment, hand controls, foot controls, and fine motor skills.
Ability to meet the physical and sensory requirements of the job, including continuous reading, screen use, mental focus, and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to use required personal protective equipment.

Experience in waste and recycling services is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and ensure safety features are operational before starting a route.
Review assigned routes before departure and ask questions when routes or expectations are unclear.
Complete assigned jobs within the allotted timeframe while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
Operate equipment safely and efficiently, following traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site-specific protocols.
Use additional caution in inclement weather and challenging site conditions.
Handle materials safely and follow procedures for material types and disposal sites.
Report equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries within 30 minutes or as soon as safely possible.
Escalate work issues, opportunities, and safety concerns to management.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance on job sites and in public areas.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients when needed.
Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
Adapt to changing conditions and challenges and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Report to work on time and as scheduled, prepared to work throughout assigned shifts and adhering to start times, breaks, and end times.
