About The Position

The Day Porter Part-Time plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of commercial or residential properties during daytime hours. This position ensures that common areas, restrooms, and entryways are clean, well-stocked, and welcoming to tenants, visitors, and staff. The Day Porter is responsible for promptly addressing any maintenance or cleanliness issues that arise throughout the day, contributing to a positive environment and enhancing the reputation of the property. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential hazards or cleanliness concerns before they impact occupants. Ultimately, the Day Porter supports the smooth operation of the facility by providing consistent, high-quality janitorial and maintenance services on a part-time basis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies and their safe usage.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the work site.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or porter services preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in commercial or multi-tenant building environments.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with building occupants and management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to adjust work hours as needed to meet the demands of the property.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal in designated areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of restrooms, including replenishing supplies and addressing any immediate issues.
  • Monitor and restock common area supplies such as paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizer.
  • Respond promptly to spills, debris, or other hazards to ensure a safe environment for all building occupants.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture or equipment for events or meetings as needed.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies in good working order and notify management when replenishment is necessary.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company policies to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
