About The Position

Sweeping Corporation of America is hiring a Street Sweeper in Mableton, Georgia. The role involves taking ownership of assigned routes, driving a street sweeper, and operating specialized equipment to keep streets clean and well-maintained in support of public safety and environmental quality. The position offers $22–$24 per hour and is eligible for a first pay increase at six months. Travel is moderate (26–50%), and the schedule includes first and third shifts. The Street Sweeper performs pre- and post-trip equipment inspections, reviews routes, completes assigned work within allotted timeframes, and operates equipment in accordance with traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site protocols. The role also involves safe material handling and disposal, timely reporting of equipment issues and incidents, accurate completion of logs and forms, professional communication, and adapting to changing conditions. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential. Work is outdoors with regular exposure to weather, the elements, and traffic, and occasional exposure to noise, dust, debris, and jarring conditions. The position requires operating specialized sweeping equipment and using required personal protective equipment. Physical demands include frequent sitting and walking or standing; occasional bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and pushing or pulling; limited stair climbing and crawling; and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead. Continuous reading, screen use, mental focus, and hand-eye coordination are also required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of DOT driving experience.
CDL-B license and DOT Medical Card.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must maintain an acceptable driving record and pass a motor vehicle record check, background check, and drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.
Ability to follow safety procedures, conduct inspections, operate equipment responsibly, and comply with traffic, site, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan routes, complete work efficiently and accurately, adapt to changing conditions, and maintain dependable attendance.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates and promptly report equipment issues, incidents, and safety concerns.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at varying heights, including overhead.
Ability to meet the stated physical, cognitive, sensory, and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform required pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and verify safety features are operational.
Review assigned routes before departure and ask clarifying questions when needed.
Complete assigned jobs within allotted timeframes while maintaining expected quality and attention to detail.
Operate street-sweeping equipment safely and efficiently, following traffic laws, company safety procedures, and site-specific protocols.
Use additional caution during inclement weather and challenging site conditions.
Handle materials safely and follow appropriate procedures for material types and disposal sites.
Report equipment issues, malfunctions, near misses, crashes, or injuries within 30 minutes or as soon as safely possible.
Escalate work issues, opportunities, and safety concerns to management.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients as needed.
Accurately complete required logs, manifests, and forms.
Respond appropriately to changes and challenges and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Report to work on time and as scheduled, remain prepared throughout assigned shifts, and adhere to start times, breaks, and end times.
