About The Position

The YMCA of Northeastern Ontario is seeking Day Camp Counsellors to join their team. This is a Full-Time summer contract position, and the role involves program planning and delivery to ensure participant satisfaction. The ideal candidate is dynamic, enjoys working with children, can manage multiple tasks, and works well as part of a team. This posting is for the creation of an applicant pool and not to fill a current vacancy. The position is located at various YMCA Day Camp locations in Sudbury, Espanola, and Elliot Lake.

Requirements

Experience working/leading group activities with children ages 3 to 12 years of age (i.e. babysitting)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) preferred

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver daily programs: group games, crafts, swimming, outside time, etc.
Supervise, engage and participate with the program participants in group activities
Apply behavior management training techniques with the program participants
Communicate with all staff
Ensure safety of all participants, property, staff and volunteers by established practices and procedures
Maintain the inventory of required supplies and request more when needed
Welcome all children to programs
Represent the YMCA in a professional manner at all times
Communication with parents on a daily basis
Tracking daily attendance
Post weekly programming schedule
Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization
