About The Position

The YMCA of Northeastern Ontario is seeking Day Camp Counsellors to join their team. This is a Full-Time summer contract position located at the Chippewa location in North Bay. The Day Camp Counsellor will be responsible for program planning and delivery to ensure participant satisfaction, working under the leadership of the Supervisor of Recreational Programming and Day Camps or General Manager of Camping. The ideal candidate is dynamic, enjoys working with children, is capable of managing multiple tasks, and can work as part of a progressive team.

Requirements

• Experience working/leading group activities with children ages 4 to 12 years of age (i.e. babysitting)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
• Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

• Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily programs: group games, crafts, swimming, outside time, etc.
• Supervise, engage and participate with the program participants in group activities
• Apply behavior management training techniques with the program participants
• Communicate with all staff
• Ensure safety of all participants, property, staff and volunteers by established practices and procedures
• Maintain the inventory of required supplies and request more when needed
• Welcome all children to programs
• Represent the YMCA in a professional manner at all times
• Communication with parents on a daily basis
• Tracking daily attendance
• Post weekly programming schedule
• Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization
