About The Position

The Data Center Facilities Lead Technician will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of facility equipment across two locations. This role involves performing routine inspections, operating and repairing electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems, and troubleshooting issues. The technician will also coordinate preventive maintenance, manage systems through the Building Automation System (BAS), and supervise contractors for projects. Additionally, the role includes installing power connections, performing raised floor modifications, and responding to general facility service requests.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a data center or critical facilities environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with electrical distribution systems, switchgear, generators, and UPS systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with automatic transfer switches, PDUs, and static switch systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with HVAC systems, including large-scale chillers and cooling infrastructure
  • Proven experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
  • Experience working with Building Automation Systems, including system integration and controls
  • Experience leading contractors and supporting facility projects
  • Associate’s degree OR high school diploma with technical training in electrical, mechanical, or refrigeration systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine rounds and inspections of all facility equipment across both locations
  • Operate, maintain, and repair electrical systems (utility power, UPS, generators, ATS, switchgear)
  • Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical systems (chillers, cooling towers, pumps)
  • Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems (computer room and office air handlers)
  • Troubleshoot and repair facility systems, infrastructure, and grounds
  • Coordinate and execute preventive maintenance for all critical equipment
  • Monitor and manage systems through the Building Automation System (BAS)
  • Supervise electrical, mechanical, and HVAC contractors
  • Support testing and commissioning of new and upgraded equipment
  • Assist with BAS integration, controls, and programming (Modbus, BACnet, etc.)
  • Support capital and O&M projects, including planning and execution
  • Install and disconnect electrical power connections for equipment and customers
  • Perform raised floor modifications and repairs (cut-outs, tile replacement)
  • Respond to general facility service requests (offices, common areas, etc.)
