About The Position

The Dairy Manager oversees the activities and functions of the Dairy Department to maximize sales and profits. This role directs department clerks and is responsible for product presentation, sanitation, stocking, customer service, inventory, freshness, pricing, staffing, and team performance. The manager leads a team in delivering quality products and a strong customer experience while maintaining department standards on the sales floor and in the backroom cooler.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have at least 2 years of retail grocery experience.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to give and take direction in a team environment.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Have working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.
• Demonstrate outgoing, friendly behavior and a positive attitude toward Team Members and customers.
• Be able to operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed.
• Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to weigh and label products accurately.
• Be able to stand continuously for up to 3 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
• Be able to vertically transfer trays weighing up to 5 lbs. from 7 to 64 inches for up to 10 hours.
• Be able to vertically and horizontally transfer items weighing up to 40 lbs. from 5 to 36 inches, over distances up to 36 feet, for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance.
• Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and obtain and maintain a Food Handlers permit.

Responsibilities

• Manage Dairy Department activities and functions to achieve and maximize sales and profits.
• Direct department clerks and oversee presentation and sanitation standards on the sales floor and in the backroom cooler.
• Process and stock products according to Sprouts dairy standards.
• Deliver outstanding customer service.
• Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department.
• Control inventory to recommended stock levels using ordering techniques that maximize sales and minimize stock loss.
• Rotate products to maintain freshness and remove out-of-code items.
• Manage department price changes.
• Coach, provide feedback to, and develop team members; make merit increase recommendations through the bi-annual performance review process.
• Attend and participate in in-store meetings.
• Recruit, hire, and make promotion or transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.
• Use independent judgment to address Team Member concerns.
• Document and take corrective actions, collaborating with business and HR partners as needed, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination.
• Create and adjust schedules and staffing levels to maximize productivity and efficiency.
• Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members.
• Lead the team in delivering quality products, high-level service, and a positive customer experience.
• Answer phones and take special orders.
• Perform department housekeeping and clean and sanitize work areas.
• Follow safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
