About The Position

The Dairy Manager performs a range of dairy department responsibilities while working with and reporting to the Grocery Manager. The role assists with directing department operations, including supervising and training personnel; ordering, receiving, storing, stocking, and inventory control; and merchandising and display building. The Dairy Manager supports a safe, friendly, and courteous customer-service environment, uses suggestive selling and other sales techniques, and helps plan regular and seasonal merchandise requirements and special sales needs.

The position also maintains product rotation and presentation, removes outdated or spoiled products, prevents the sale of out-of-code items, and maintains backroom inventory and standards. It supports grocery ordering, stocking, conditioning, merchandising, reclamation, and new-item work, and may provide backup cashier coverage. The role is safety-sensitive and requires compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

• Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for long periods, and to bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently; may need to climb ladders.
• Mental alertness for safe, accurate completion of work and accurate performance of repetitive tasks.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics and ability to learn inventory control, pricing, merchandising, and shipping and receiving procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Grocery Manager in directing Dairy Department operations, including supervising and training personnel.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, storing, stocking, inventory control, and building displays.
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness and provide safe, friendly, and courteous service.
• Use suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
• Assist with planning regular and seasonal merchandise requirements and special sales needs.
• Rotate and face products, clean and dust shelves, and process and discard outdated or spoiled products.
• Prevent the sale of out-of-code products.
• Order Dairy merchandise.
• Train, teach, and coach dairy stocking and conditioning standards.
• Assist with dry grocery order writing, grocery stocking and conditioning, new items, and the reclamation process.
• Manage backroom inventory, conditions, and standards.
• Assist with grocery department merchandising and display building.
• May act as a backup cashier.
