Dairy & Freezer Clerk Full Time
About The Position
The Dairy & Freezer Clerk maintains the dairy and freezer sections by ensuring proper stocking, product rotation, and product integrity. The role supports merchandising, inventory management, and food safety compliance while providing excellent service to Members. The clerk helps keep the department organized and efficient and contributes to the success of the perishables team. The position also supports BJ’s service and club standards, contributes to department goals and financial performance, and provides additional support across departments as needed. Regular, predictable, full attendance is required.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Basic knowledge of cold chain management, food safety standards, and product handling requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of experience in dairy, freezer, grocery, or retail operations.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and email.
Responsibilities
- Stock dairy and freezer products according to company planograms and maintain visual standards.
- Monitor temperature control and cold chain integrity, and replenish low or missing items to ensure product freshness and availability.
- Rotate products using FIFO procedures to reduce waste and maintain quality.
- Inspect products for expiration dates and condition; remove damaged or outdated items.
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards, including routine cleaning of coolers, freezers, equipment, and shelving.
- Monitor in-stock levels and assist with replenishment to keep the department full and shoppable.
- Verify that items are correctly signed and priced.
- Assist with seasonal transitions and merchandising plans.
- Follow company policies and procedures for dairy and freezer operations.
- Perform other duties and provide support across departments as assigned.
- Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
- Deliver member service in line with GOLD standards and service behaviors; respond to Member questions or concerns and escalate unresolved issues when necessary.
- Perform daily responsibilities accurately and consistently to support club goals and performance.
- Use supplies responsibly, follow scheduling expectations, and complete tasks efficiently to support cost discipline and profitability.
