About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a Daily Substitute Teacher at Clarksburg Classical Academy in Clarksburg, West Virginia. The role supports the school’s goal of providing a superior education and creating a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. Clarksburg Classical Academy is a public charter school serving EK- students and uses a rigorous curriculum rooted in the Trivium model. The school is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving students throughout the United States. The substitute teacher prepares and delivers lessons, adapts instruction to student needs, supports student behavior and development, and helps maintain a safe and productive learning environment. The role also involves communicating with families and colleagues, using school-approved curricula and technology, and participating in non-instructional activities as needed.

Requirements

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.
Ability to supervise and support students of various ages in classrooms and school settings, including the cafeteria, playground, and during transitions.
Ability to maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
Ability to meet applicable employment requirements, including required federal and state background checks.
Experience working with diverse student populations and communities.
Comfort working in a growth-focused, collaborative environment that includes coaching, feedback, and ongoing professional development.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
Current West Virginia teaching license or certification preferred.
Previous teaching, substitute teaching, or experience working with school-age students preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom.
Create a positive classroom environment that supports learning.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families regarding children’s academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
