About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring Daily Substitute Teachers to support Barber Preparatory Academy and Inkster Preparatory Academy in Michigan. The schools serve PK–8 students and aim to provide a superior education in a welcoming environment that supports academic growth and social-emotional development. Substitute Teachers support classroom instruction, follow provided lesson plans and school procedures, supervise students throughout the school day, and help create a safe and engaging learning environment. They use school-approved curricula reflecting students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds and build positive relationships with students and staff. The position offers career advancement opportunities throughout ACCEL Schools and its network of education professionals.

Requirements

Be eligible for or currently hold a State of Michigan Substitute Teaching License.
Have a minimum of 60 completed college credit hours; education or a related field is preferred.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be able to manage confidential information appropriately.
Be able to pass federal and state criminal background checks.

Responsibilities

Support classroom instruction and help maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment.
Supervise students throughout the school day, including in classrooms, hallways, on the playground, and in the cafeteria.
Follow provided lesson plans and school procedures.
Utilize school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Build positive relationships with students and school staff.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
