About The Position

The Customs Brokerage Agent supports the customs process by entering and verifying customs declaration information, tracking and reporting on customs files, and helping ensure client billing is accurate and timely. The role requires interpreting customs desk-level operating procedures and customer instructions, and supporting compliant submissions to customs authorities. The agent is expected to maintain compliance with applicable regulations while providing accurate, timely service.

Requirements

At least 2 years of brokerage experience.
Good knowledge of customs brokerage processes and customs legislation, especially classification, valuation, and origin.
Understanding of ocean, road, and air documentation processes.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Proactive approach, strong organizational skills, and computer skills.
Goal-oriented and detail-oriented.
Strong analytical and process improvement skills.
Good computer skills, including MS Excel and MS Word.
Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

Ensure smooth and timely customs process flow.
Enter accurate and timely data into the operational system.
Track and trace customs files and prepare reporting.
Ensure accurate and timely client billing.
Understand and correctly interpret import and export customs Desk Level Operating Procedures to fulfill customer instructions and expectations.
Transfer customs declaration information from documents or other sources into the customs entry system to enable preparation of a valid customs declaration.
Assist with verification of customs declaration information and its submission to the customs authority.
Ensure ongoing compliance with regulations.
